Ysaira Walls is a professional literary and scientific translator. She is a native Spanish speaker and is fluent in English and Italian. Ysa has worked as an English teacher for seven years and has been a professional translator for more than ten. She has written the English subtitles for several films and documentaries, including “El Caracazo” (name given to a massive mobilization against the neoliberal establishment in Venezuela) and “Días de Poder” (“Days of Power”) directed by Román Chalbaud, a well-known playwright and movie director. She also translated Chalbaud’s most outstanding play “El Pez que Fuma,” written in 1968, which he adapted years later as a film.
Ysaira holds a five-year bachelor’s degree in modern languages and translation from the University of Los Andes in Mérida, Venezuela. She is a dogged researcher and has a special passion for literature and other social subjects. She enjoys working out, hiking, dancing, reading, writing poems and sharing with her family and friends.
